Upcoming Session
FALL SESSIONS ARE STARTING SOON!
We use running and physical fitness as an innovative tool to work on character building, positive self-talk, and growth mindset – most kids programs do not directly work on these concepts. We take pride in empowering our youth through fitness! Strong Minds is for kids of all fitness levels. Each class features a warm-up, a bite-sized mindset discussion, a running drill, and class game. Strong Minds Run Club kids leave class tired, smiling, confident, and strong.
We are excited to offer a slightly shorter session to kick off the new school year to at our partnering schools and parks. For this first quarter, we will hold 5 week or 6 week sessions! Our usual 8 weeks sessions will return for quarters 2, 3, and 4.

What are the "8 Empowerment Principles"?
1) Power words – How we talk about ourselves defines who we are
2) Positive thoughts – We are what we think we are
3) Aggressive Goals – We dare to believe anything is possible
4) Personal Resilience – Setbacks are welcomed as an opportunity to grow
5) Teamwork – We can do together what we cannot do alone
6) Individual integrity – We do the right thing even when no one is watching
7) Community vision – Our actions affect our community
8) New Beginnings – A finish line is just the beginning of a new journey
What Running Skills Are Covered?
1) Warm-up/Cool down – We prepare our bodies to run with a warm-up and prepare it to restore with a cool down.
2) Posture – Posture reflects attitude. Run Club Attitude: relaxed, light, positive feeling while running tall, controlled and looking forward.
3) Pacing – Understand different pacing speeds and when to use each.
4) Energy Direction – Keeping good running form will make your running more efficient so you can go faster for longer periods of time.
5) Speed vs. Endurance – Understand the difference between speed and endurance and how they work together.
6) Stride – Understand stride, cadence and how they relate to speed. Be able to find the “just right” stride during different run speeds.
7) Strength training – Running is a whole-body exercise and strength training is an important part of any running program.
8) Putting it all together – Earn the end of season medal by completing the Medal Challenge.
How Do I Create a Program for a Group of Kids?
Not finding a session that will work for you? Just ask! :)
Small Group sessions may be available as well. Find a group that you're comfortable with- friends, neighbors, learning pod, mother's club playgroup, etc. and let us know where you would like to meet. If we can accommodate your days, time , and location, your coach will arrive with everything needed to lead the kids in our awesome program. We are always looking for new groups and new areas!
What If It Is Raining or Too Hot?
If it's raining but there is a partial cover/overhang, Run Club will still be outdoors. However, in the case of heavy rain with no cover, we will move class to an indoor location if available.
Living in AZ, we plan for the heat! There will be extra hydration breaks and water games/activities throughout practice.
If any class has to be cancelled due to weather, Strong Minds Run Club will offer a make up class, either at the end of the session or an extra day during the session.
Do Kids Participate In Races or Community Events?
We encourage all students and their families to participate in local events throughout the year. Please check with your coach during your session or contact us to see if there are any upcoming events planned.
How Do I Become a Strong Minds Run Club Coach?
We are always looking for good coaches! Our increased coaching team allows us to expand to new schools and parks in your area! We have head coach and assistant coach positions available. Pay varies by experience and position.
